After the flowers ceased to bloom in my garden, I put up a hummingbird feeder. I have noticed more male hummingbirds with their red markings. This time, a female came to sip some nectar. Besides being female, she had a malformed beak, a beak that seemed to stretch out like a branch. I wondered how she could drink from the small hole in the plastic flower. Not even the honey bees could manage that. I believe she injects her long tongue into the hole. I discovered another miracle of adaptation.
